This is a beautiful authentic antique onion shape Ambre Demijohn, circa 1890-1940.
We can see two seams that show it was hand-blown in mould. It has little imperfections and a beautiful ambre colour. We can read on the lip 5L (for 5 liters), and underneath 5L SR and others letters which are not clear as it looks like ther was a pontil scar as well.
It is a lovely Demijohn.
Unique Piece.

All those old Demijohns are unique pieces. They can give so much character to any interior and look beautiful in any room.
“Demijohn” is an old word that formerly referred to any glass vessel with a large body and small neck, enclosed in wickerwork. In France, Demijohn is called “Dame Jeanne”, literally “Lady Jane”.
